About the Innovation Network

There are 6 organizations behind the Innovation Network for Biomass, which was established in 2010. The goal of the network is to bring Danish companies in the lead internationally through communication of knowledge, company and market development, networking, internationalization, and assistance with entrepreneurship.

Much of this happens online here on this website. It serves a communication platform for members as well as others who are interested in the solutions of the future within bioenergy and environmental technology. More than 150 companies and organizations from the bioenergy industry are members of the network.

The Innovation Network for Biomass is driven with funds from the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and is organized in six themes:

  • Biomass
  • Technology
  • Energy
  • Environment
  • Biorefinery
  • Framework Conditions

Within these themes new projects will be started continuously. Each of our consortium partners is responsible for a theme.

The consortium behind the Innovation Network for Biomass:

  • AgroTech
  • Engineering College of Aarhus (IHA)
  • Danish Technological Institute
  • Aalborg University
  • Technical University of Denmark (DTU)
  • Aarhus University
  • Agro Business Park

Moreover, companies and relevant industry organizations are represented in the steering committee.

Innovation Network for Biomass is a continuation of what was formerly known as the CBMI network.

CBMI, or Innovation Centre for Bioenergy and Environmental Technology, was in 2006 appointed Regional Technology Centre by the Danish Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation. As a part of Agro Business Park A/S the centre was established to create networks, cooperation, projects, contacts, and dissemination of knowledge within bioenergy and environmental technology. The idea was to create projects which could develop into commercial technologies and processes.

This main goal has not changed even though we in 2010 changed our name to the Innovation Network for Biomass. The Innovation Network is not just a forum for professionals to meet and get access to news and knowledge. We are still focused on creating projects which can develop into commercial and environmental successes. We wish to work on commercializing and internationalizing these achievements. The goal is that the cooperation we facilitate between knowledge institutions and companies should result in concrete results and job creation.

Some of the projects formerly carried out under the CBMI name will now be carried out under the Agro Business Park name instead. You can read more about that here
